Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey department of athletics and recreation announced Marina Muncan has been named interim full-time assistant coach of the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs. Muncan joins interim head coach Justin Lindsey, who was promoted earlier this summer to lead both programs.

Muncan recently competed in the 2012 Olympics held in London. She was a member of the Serbian Olympic Team and raced in the 1,500-meter event.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to coach at a college with such a strong tradition in cross country and track and field," noted Muncan, who had just taken a tour of campus from Lindsey. "I am excited to meet the athletes and hope my experience can assist towards continued success here at TCNJ."

Already familiar with the New Jersey Athletic Conference, Muncan comes from Richard Stockton College, where she was the women's cross country head coach and assistant track and field coach. Muncan focused on middle distance and distance runners during the winter and spring, while she guided the Osprey cross country runners to a significant improvement in performance last fall.

Muncan graduated from Villanova University in 2006 where she was an 11-time All-American and individual Big East Champion. As a senior, Muncan finished runner-up at the NCAA championships in the 1,500-meter event. Muncan was also a member of the Big East Academic All-Star Team from 2003 through 2006.

The Lions open their 2013 cross country schedule on August 31 when they host the Blue/Gold Classic at Rosedale Park in Hopewell, NJ. Two weeks later, TCNJ will compete in the Ramapo Roadrunner Invitational held at Ramapo Roadrunner College.
