Sheila Reid Wins 800 / 1500 Double at Colonial Relays
Nips Georgetown's Emily Infeld 2:07.65 -- 2:07.86

Sheila Reid won both the 1500 meters (4:20.78) and the 800 meters (2:07.65) at this weekend's Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, hosted by William & Mary. In the 1500 meters, her time was a three-second improvement over the 4:23.12 she ran on March 24th at the Big Five meet, and should place her among the top 15 in the NCAA at that distance when all weekend results are in. Her 800 meter race produced a two-stride win over Georgetown's Emily Infeld, and was only 1.4 seconds slower than her PR of 2:06.38 set at the 2010 Big East outdoor championships. Reid became the first woman to win both the 800 and 1500 meters at the Colonial Relays in the same year since 1990, and just the third ever. The other two women were also ran at Villanova: Michelle DiMuro (Reebok) in 1990, and current Villanova coach Gina Procaccio (Tortuga) in 1989. Here is a video of Reid's victory in her 800 meter heat. Nicky Akande (2:09.15) was 3rd and Emily Lipari (2:09.67) was 5th in the same heat.
